Last night Boris Johnson announced a new three-tier alert system in England to try to stop the spread of coronavirus. The Liverpool City Region has been placed into the ‘Very High’ category, meaning pubs and bars must close and people cannot meet with anybody outside their household or support bubble. We’re joined by Professor David Livermore, one of 2,500 academics who has signed a declaration urging world leaders to halt “harmful” Covid restrictions in favour of pursuing a strategy of herd immunity. We’re also joined by Dr Simon Clarke, from the University of Reading, who disagrees and thinks lockdowns are the only option to control the spread.
