The Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa State University Extension and outreach hosted a webinar on Tuesday April 21, 2020 that focused specifically on slowing growth rate on near market ready hogs that cannot be delivered to market due to packing plant closures and slowdowns. Drs. John Patience and Laura Greiner from ISU Animal Science swine nutrition faculty discussed nutritional strategies that could be implemented to slow growth rate. In addition, preliminary data from Dr. Nick Gabler’s on-going trial using several of the nutritional strategies was shared.
