Fibers, Vitamins and Minerals |Balanced diet| 2021
Fibers are carbohydrates that help our bodies to digest food. Two (2) Types of Fibers are soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. These two though different are basically needed in our body to digest food properly. The vitamins and minerals are both chemicals that our bodies need to be healthy and help the body in many ways. Our body needs minerals to make it healthy and function well. Consider two examples of minerals major and trace. Major minerals are needed 100 mg daily while trace minerals less than a 100 mg per day. The two types of vitamins are fat soluble vitamins which include A. D, E and K, while the water soluble vitamins are B and C.
Vitamin A – helps growth and vision
Vitamin B – needed for healthy nerves, muscles and brains
Vitamin C – needed for our immune system to fight disease
Vitamin D – helps our bodies to absorb calcium and phosphorus to form bones and teeth
Vitamin E – needed in the absorption of vitamin A
Vitamin K – needed in clotting of blood
