Joanna visits with Kristi Shive, Warren County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences to talk about ways we can support our immune systems.
At this time, we’re probably hearing a lot about boosting our immune system. Today, we’re going to focus on supporting our immune systems. It’s important to always be living a lifestyle that supports our immune system so that when our bodies do face infection, they can fight the infection and work properly. What that looks like is making healthy lifestyle choices every day. Making healthy lifestyle choices every day looks getting enough sleep, being physically active, staying hydrated and eating nutritious foods. Eating foods high in Vitamin C is another way we can support our immune systems. Typically when we think of foods high in Vitamin C we think of oranges and orange juice. While those are great sources of Vitamin C, there are other great sources that we probably have in our own refrigerators or pantries. Broccoli, Bell Peppers, Potatoes, and Cauliflower are all great sources of Vitamin C.
