If you’re taking vitamin D, here are three things to keep in mind to make sure you’re taking it right and to know how much you should be taking. First, it is very important to take vitamin D with food; vitamin D is a lipid-soluble fat meaning it requires fats to be properly absorbed. Second, vitamin D should be taken with vitamin K2; this is because vitamin D causes a huge uptake in calcium and vitamin K2 ensures that this calcium does not go to places we don’t want it to go like the arteries and soft tissue and instead it goes into the bones. Lastly, know how much vitamin D you should be taking; it’s very important to get your levels checked – a simple blood test will show your current levels, and from there, you could determine how much you should be taking to get into the optimal range.
