Are you getting enough vitamin D? Or is your genetic makeup impacting its absorption? In this excluisive behind-the-scenes clip from my university lectures, Dr. Ahmed El Sohemi discusses the use of genetic testing for vitamin D. Discover how genetic testing can uncover potential deficiencies and why it’s essential to complement it with nutritional testing to confirm your vitamin D levels. Find out if you’re on the right track to maintaining a healthy balance.

Key takeaways from the video:

* Genetic testing helps identify which nutrients to focus on and whether adjustments in intake are necessary.
* Elevated risk for a nutrient deficiency like vitamin D deficiency does not necessarily mean you are already deficient; it indicates a higher likelihood of having low blood levels if you are not getting enough of that nutrient.
* Genetic testing should be used alongside functional testing and blood testing to provide a comprehensive approach to personalized nutrition.

[Music] if you have the elevated risk for vitamin D like it’s said in the sample report it doesn’t mean that you are vitamin D deficient it just means that if you’re not getting adequate amounts of vitamin D you have a greater likelihood of having low blood levels and having and being deficient so if someone has that you know one thing you would want to do is perhaps get tested get a blood test to see where your current levels are but more importantly make sure you’re getting adequate amounts of vitamin D follow the recommendations first we had someone who um had elevated risk for vitamin D and they said I just got my blood work done and it shows that my levels are totally fine how can you tell me that I have an elevated risk and we said okay well let’s look at your dietary history it turns out they’re taking a thousand international units of vitamin D every day plus two glasses of milk so they’re doing the right things to maintain those vitamin D levels so again it’s not diagnostic it just tells you do I need to focus more on this nutrient or that nutrient do I need to decrease my intake of something like sodium or saturated fat or am I lucky I don’t have to worry about it as much and I need to focus on other aspects of my diet yeah and that’s why it’s so important to use genetic testing testing as one element uh together with the function of testing and blood testing so to confirm whether actually we are perhaps already doing the right things and reinforce those habits okay keep up uh with the with the good habits I hope you enjoyed the video if you find it insightful I invite you to leave a comment below and share it with someone who may find it interesting don’t forget to explore the video description for more valuable content there you’ll find a link to access my free webinar on epine nutrition groundbreaking Health Paradigm I teach in my university courses join me to explore how nutrition can optimize gene expression thank you for watching and being a part of this Vibrant Community
