Welcome. Today we will discuss fish oil and what it can do for our bodies. Fish oil is a type of fat and oil commonly found in various types of fish like solomon, mackerel or sardine. However, if you cannot consume these particular fish, you can take their supplements in capsule form available in the market. You can use that if you want. It is used for various benefits including preventing heart diseases and stroke which are significant. Moreover, it has many other benefits. Fish oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a type of essential fat that our bodies cannot produce. Therefore, to maintain essential bodily processes, we need to get it through food or supplements from the pharmacy. In this video, let’s discuss its benefits. Number one, improve brain function. First major benefit of using fish oil is for our brain. Due to the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, it improves brain function. By using it, diseases caused by aging such as Alzheimer’s or other memory related diseases can be prevented. Fish oil contain EPA and DHA types of omega-3s that are crucial for brain health and functions. Research shows that a deficiency of these can lead to a higher risk of cognitive decline with age. Studies also found that people who consume more DHA found in fish oil have better brain performance as compared to those who use it less or not at all. Number two, slow down the aging process. The second major benefit of fish oil is reducing the speed of the aging process. With its use, skin changes caused by aging such as wrinkles are reduced. Fish oil contains collagen, a structural protein that helps maintain healthy skin cells. Because of this, skin, hair, and nails become healthier. The collagen protein creates a protective layer on the skin maintaining its elasticity and firmness. However, as a person ages, collagen production slows down. Skin elasticity damages and wrinkles begin to appear. Research indicates that using fish oil helps slows down the aging process. Animal studies on the effect of fish oil have shown that regular supplementation in mice slows down aging and lowers mortality rates by 25%. Number three, improves joint health. At number three, fish oil offers significant benefits to joint health due to its role in improving connective tissues health. The omega-3 fatty acids it contains help reduce inflammation in the body by decreasing inflammation in your joints. It also reduces pain and other associated conditions. Additionally, it minimizes discomfort and soreness resulting in greater ease and relief. Fish oil is also effective in addressing joint illness like arthritis by lowering inflammation, thus enabling better movement and mobility. Number four, improves skin health. At number four, fish oil is rich in vitamin A and D offering many benefits. Fish oil contains a high amount of vitamin A and D. Vitamin E in fish oil differs from the vitamin E found in vegetables such as carrots or spinach. The vitamin A in fish oil, also known as retinol, plays a vital role in maintaining healthy skin and boosting our immune system. While many obtain vitamin A from food, those who do not consume enough vegetables or fruits might need fish oil supplements. Lastly, vitamin D is also essential and is naturally synthesized in our body when exposed to sunlight. However, for those who are rarely in the sun or frequently used sunscreen, there may be a deficiency in vitamin D. Fish oil supplements are often enriched with vitamin D, helping to fill this gap. With the help of vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus are more effectively absorbed into our bloodstream, strengthening our bones and teeth. Number five, reduces diseases risk. At number five, using fish oil helps lower the risk of heart diseases. One primary reason is the high content of omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil. There are three types of omega-3 fatty acids, DHA, EPA, and ALA. with DHA and EPA being particularly effective in reducing inflammation in the blood vessels. As a result, the risk of atherosclerosis and other heart diseases decreases. Fish oil also helps prevent blood clots which reduces the chances of blockage and lowers the risk of heart attacks and strokes. In addition, fish oil aids in maintaining a regular heartbeat which is particularly beneficial for individual with arhythmia. For those with high triglycerides and blood fat levels, fish oil provides substantial benefits. Studies suggest that regular fish oil consumption for 3 months can reduce triglyceride levels by up to 50%. Number six, improves eye health. Fish oil, particularly omega-3, significantly enhances the health of our eyes. As a result, it reduces intraaccular pressure, thereby helping to lower the risk of glaucoma and other eye diseases. Glaucoma occurs when high eye pressure damages the optic nerve, potentially leading to vision loss. With the help of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil, blood flow to the eyes improves and intraaccular pressure decreases. Numerous clinical studies have proven that fish oil reduces intracolor pressure even among patients with glaucoma, making it a vital supplement for eye health. Number seven, enhanced strength and stamina. Fish oil consumption has also been proven to increase stamina, especially during exercise. Muscle damage is reduced thanks to omega-3 fatty acids, which aid in maintaining the health of cells, nerve tissues, and brain cells. Some athletes have observed that a lack of omega-3 fatty acids leads to low stamina and aerobic capacity. With the help of fish oil supplements, their performance improves as their stamina increases. This is because fish oil accelerates the process of burning body fat instead of carbohydrates, providing energy during exercise and speeding up muscle recovery. The polyunsaturated fats in fish oil are also known to reduce inflammation and expediate the body’s healing process. As we age, muscle regeneration and healing slows down, but omega-3 fatty acids contribute to faster recovery from injuries. Number eight, strengthening immune system. Fish oil helps boost the immune system. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for various biological process including improving immunity. According to a study, fish oil usage in ICU patients increase TE-C cells count which help fight infections and speed recovery after surgery or injury. Evidence also shows that individuals who consume fish oil or flax seeds oil have higher levels of EPA and DHA in their blood after 6 months compared to those using olive oil. Clearly, regular fish oil intake strengthen the immune system by increasing omega-3 levels in the blood. Precautions. Although fish oil offers many health benefits, proper caution is advised during consumption. Some individuals may experience minor side effects such as diarrhea or belching. Generally, no major issues arise for most individuals. But consuming more than three grams daily may cause bleeding problems and stomach pain. Therefore, it is essential to follow the recommended dosage and always take it with food. If you want to protect yourself from various types of illnesses, use fish oil supplements or eat foods rich in them such as salamon, mackerel, or sardine. Thanks for watching the video.
