The novel coronavirus emerged in December of last year in Wuhan, China and has since infected and killed thousands of people in all corners of the globe. Covid-19 has caused mild symptoms in some people who are infected, but it can also lead to severe illness. The main function of the immune system is to protect the body from infection, some people have weakened immune systems which make them prone to frequent infections. Those who have serious underlying health issues especially those with weak immune systems brought on by HIV/Aids are at an increased risk of getting severely ill.
