CHICO, Calif. – Many people find themselves searching for any way to cope with grief, even if its unconventional. Theresa Caputo, famously known as the “Long Island Medium,” offers a unique perspective on connecting with departed loved ones.

Caputo believes that the souls of those who have passed are not entirely gone. She claims to have the ability to communicate with spirits, which initially caused her anxiety and physical pain.

“The way spirit communicates with me is through feeling, so the soul will literally bring me through their departure. I will feel what they felt as the soul left the physical body,” said Caputo.

She has turned this ability into a tool to help others cope with loss. Caputo emphasizes the importance of allowing oneself to grieve.

“That grief is always going to be there, some days or decades it’s going to hit you harder than others, and it’s ok, give yourself permission to grieve,” Caputo said.

Caputo reassures people that they don’t have to be mediums to feel connected to their loved ones.

“I want people to know that the things that they sense and feel that are odd, weird, they may think it’s a coincidence; as long as it reminds you of your departed loved one, know that that is a direct message from them,” said Caputo.

For many, dreams can serve as a powerful connection to those who have passed.

“When you have a dream of your loved one you will remember them so vividly as if it was real, and he was smiling? That is the soul showing themselves to you saying, remember me this way,” Caputo explained.

Caputo also addresses skeptics by drawing a parallel to faith.

“We’re believing in a god that we can’t see, sometimes we feel him, feel the presence. Why won’t we believe that in our own departed loved ones,” Caputo said.

Theresa Caputo will be at the Redding Civic Auditorium this Sunday, offering a chance for people to explore her unconventional approach to healing.
