There are numerous ways to start the New Year on a wellness-focused note, but The Rest Lab tackles one of the most important aspects of health: sleep.
The Rest Lab is a series of two sleep-focused sound bath events put on by Somatelligence, a somatic wellness lounge in Oceanside. It’s being held at Golden Dreams Mattress, a luxury sleep showroom serving homes in Carlsbad and beyond.
As far as what the event itself entails, it’s a relatively unique facet of San Diego wellness culture. The Rest Lab is a sleep-focused sound bath with optional somatic healing modalities and simple breathwork exercises meant to help you prepare for your best night of sleep yet.
The Rest Lab will feature a multi-instrument sound bath to settle your nervous system, as well as simple science-backed breathing exercises and a short talk on sleep hygiene.
Along with these tools to help you rest better at home, the event will also feature the opportunity to receive brief craniosacral therapy. If you’re unfamiliar, craniosacral therapy is a touch-based somatic practice similar to a massage to help release tension and improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.
The event is aimed at people who are craving better sleep, especially creatives, leaders, caretakers, and anyone stuck in “tired but wired” mode.
You won’t need to bring anything other than cozy layers and water. If you’d prefer, you can bring your own sheets to the event, though the venue has taken steps to ensure all beds are clean and fluffy for your session.
Tickets to the event start at $25. There are two current sessions available:
Saturday, Jan. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
