There are two camps of celebrities when it comes to red carpet beauty looks: those who embrace a chameleonic approach by experimenting with unexpected updos or statement manicures, and those with a classic signature style that promises a show-stopping moment and enhances every ensemble.
Barrister and human rights activist Amal Clooney is a masterclass when it comes to the latter. Her beauty uniform of tumbling brunette waves, soft smokey eyes and neutral lips proves to be a successful formula for every red carpet and for all seasons.

At last night’s Golden Globes, Clooney relied on her fail-safe recipe, this time elevated with a subtle tweak: a return to a darker, mocha hair colour dubbed “vintage wood” teamed with cascading curls and a side parting, created by colourist and hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos.
“Amal wore a stunning red dress from Balmain with a vintage ’50s feel. It was a recreation of the Balmain Erato dress from the 1950s. I wanted to create a hair look that complemented this gorgeous gown so we went with soft, Parisian vintage waves,” says Giannetos in an official statement. He use the L’Oreal Professionnel AirLight Pro Hair Dryer, before spritzing Initio Atomic Rose Hair Perfume as a finishing touch.

It is a slight departure from previous months, which saw her sporting lighter, sun-kissed pieces woven through the lengths. This richer hue features a more even, all-over tone with a focus on mirror-like shine to add dimension. While brighter cocoa brunettes reflect the sunny mood of summer, there is something sumptuous and polished about a deep, brunette tone.
For her make-up, Clooney turned to Charlotte Tilbury products for its expertise in radiant skin and sultry eyes. Giannetos used Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Foundation with the new Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer to create a photo-ready base, and the Super Nudes Easy Eye Palette for a steel grey wash of colour. A lip combination of Super Nudes Lip Cheat Contour Duo in Tan and Hot Lips 2 in Angel Alessandra ties the whole look together.
