WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – There’s a new nutrition program in the North Country called the 1115 Medicaid Waiver.
Shane Dudley from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County appeared on 7 News at Noon on Friday to talk about it.
The 1115 Medicaid Waiver is part of an overhaul of the Medicaid program that is devoting time, attention, and funding to addressing health-related social needs, including nutrition, transportation, housing, employment, and overall safety.
CCE is offering screening and navigation services as well as nutrition counseling and education.
The goal is to connect at-risk residents to support programs to prevent emergency situations. CCE says the services aren’t designed to be a rescue, they’re geared toward prevention.
