ALCHEMY SPRINGS
Did you know that the nation’s largest freestanding sauna is located in the Tenderloin? Allow us to introduce you to Alchemy Springs’ Sauna Garden, a communal bathhouse with a sauna large enough to fit 40 people. Sessions last for two hours and include access to the sauna, outdoor showers, a cold plunge, garden seating, thermal benches and a tea bar. There are also classes, and on Tuesdays in February, Contrast is a guided breathwork and meditation in the sauna. It regularly hosts Aufguss, a German experience featuring an herbal steam infusion and a towel-waving ritual. The Sauna Garden is just the beginning of Alchemy Springs, with its 6,000-square-foot thermal bathhouse set to debut later this year. 939 Post St., 415.964.0336, alchemysprings.com

ONSEN
Onsen, a Japanese bathhouse and restaurant, originally opened a decade ago in the Tenderloin, but closed during the pandemic. However, its former manager, Adam Wren, took ownership of the space and reopened Onsen last year. Book a two-hour soaking session followed by dinner, and you’re in for a treat. The chic minimalist space instantly transports, and the intimate dining room is currently hosting a variety of pop-ups with plans to open its own concept later this spring. 466 Eddy St., onsensf.com
