BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Houchin Community Blood Bank (HCBB) will partner with Kern Family Health Care to offer donors a limited-edition shaker cup starting Feb. 2, as part of the blood bank’s annual “Resolve to Get Fit” donation campaign.

The promotion lasts a week, which focuses on wellness, hydration, and community support while helping ensure local hospitals have the blood donations that they need.

Additionally, mini-health screens will be offered to donors for:

Blood pressurePulseHemoglobin (iron) levels

HCBB noted that routine blood donation has possible health benefits, including supporting cardiovascular health, maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, improving circulation, and reducing inflammation, according to studies.

“Making time for your health can also be such a powerful way to care for others. Donating blood is one of the simplest ways to give back, but it comes with benefits for both the donor and the community,” stated Kristel Pollock, HCBB’s manager of Sponsorship and Fundraising.

To receive a shaker cup, donate at any HCCB donation centers or community blood drives from Feb. 2 to Feb. 7. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
