A new fitness studio in Lakewalk is preparing for its grand opening after building community interest through outdoor classes.

Studio Muse owner Karah Welch said the response has been positive since before the gym opened its doors. The studio has been offering sunset mat classes at the Lakewalk pavilion and attracting members who are trying multiple class formats.

The fitness center offers 50-minute spin classes with about 40 minutes of working time followed by a cool-down period. Studio Muse also provides reformer Pilates classes using specialized machines and mat Pilates classes that incorporate balls, weights, bands and magic circles.

“Our slogan is mindful movement, good vibes,” Welch said. “We are always mindful of your level and your skill set, and we always want you to be mindful of what you can do and what you have yet to be able to do.”

The studio’s reformer Pilates classes typically begin with footwork exercises where participants lie on their backs with feet positioned on a foot bar. Advanced movements include single leg stretches and double leg stretches for participants with strong core control.

Studio Muse will hold its grand opening Feb. 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature grand prizes and 15% off class packs. Customers who purchase class packs during the event will be entered to win one of three prizes.

“It’s going to be all good vibes, like always, and it’s just going to be a big community event,” Welch said.
