WACO, Texas (KWTX) – The company that owns Crunch Fitness gyms responded to a leaked memo offering guidance on what front desk employees should do if U.S. Immigration and Customs and Protection officers visit.

“Our Company policy is to cooperate with any law enforcement officer,” the memo states, “Agents may arrive suddenly, with several officers inside and outside. They may block exits and order no one to leave. Follow orders.”

The memo was leaked on the social media platform Reddit with the message, “Crunch allowing ICE raids y’all be safe.”

In a statement shared on several Crunch Fitness Instagram accounts, the company says “we work hard to make sure everyone who walks in through our doors feels welcomed, safe and respected.”

The company further said the internal memo was meant to offer guidance to employees “in the event of an unexpected law enforcement visit.”

Crunch explained the lobby is the only public area of its gym and access to other areas of the gym would require a “valid judicial warrant.”

“Our intent was preparedness and safety, not partnership or participation,” Crunch Fitness said.
