KINGSTON, N.Y. — A portable propane heater used to heat Signature Fitness caused a fire there on Tuesday morning, a fire official said.
Reached by phone Tuesday, Feb. 3, Deputy Chief James Brunner of the Kingston Fire Department said a door adjacent to the heater caught fire at about 7:45 a.m.
The blaze was contained to the door, Brunner said. The building was ventilated and reopened for business, Brunner said.
No injuries were reported and the department was back in service at 7:58 a.m., Brunner said.
Many businesses and homes in Uptown Kingston were without power on Tuesday morning because of an underground electric vault explosion, officials said.
