BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thousands of fans turned out to Fenway Park to celebrate the upcoming 50thseason of Survivor.
A special immunity idol hunt was underway at Fenway Park on Saturday ahead of Survivor’s Season 50. Fans were given a treat as season 46 runner-up and Manchester-by-the-Sea native Charlie Davis made an appearance.
Hidden Immunity Idols from the show were hidden around the U.S. to celebrate the upcoming season, rewarding those who find them with a ticket to the live season 50 finale in Los Angeles.
Season 50 of Survivor is shaping up to be the biggest yet, with 24 returning players making their way back to the islands of Fiji. Davis will be a part of the returning group, and he said he’s honored to be back.
“I would have loved to come back for any season, but season 50, it’s beyond just another season of Survivor, it’s beyond just a returning player season,” said Davis. “It’s a celebration of the cultural impact that Survivor has had.”
Just two votes away from winning the million dollars during his season, Davis is looking forward to getting some redemption. He’s been cemented as one of the many New England legends to leave their mark on Survivor, much like ‘Boston’ Rob Mariano.
While Boston Rob won’t be returning for season 50, there’s still plenty of fan-favorites that Davis is looking forward to working with.
“Having played in a newer season, I knew a lot of the newer players. So I was pumped to see all these old legends and icons,” said Davis. “You have Coach, Cirie, Jenna Lewis from season one, Colby Donaldson, season two. These are the people that really started this wild, insane ride that Survivor has had.”
Davis said going on the show changed his life, and he gives some encouraging advice for anyone interested in applying for a spot.
“Survivor really is all about it being a test,” said Davis. “So if you have that hunger where you think you even might want to be tested, you probably have the hunger where you can succeed on the show, so go for it.”
