We’ll be honest, The Great Spirit Festival has kept a very low profile, but consider the cat now very much out of the bag. Targeting those in the know, as well as those keen to be enlightened, the festival brings together movement, music and nature for a multi-day escape set among the rivers and forested groves of Hang Dong. While there is music (and the odd DJ), the main focus is wellness and personal development through the ‘channeling of our great spirit energy to honour life and deepen our connection to the earth’ – or so they say. These connections are built around cacao circles, ecstatic dance, sound baths, cactus meditation and yoga. But to ensure it’s accessible to those just starting out on their spiritual journey, there’s also a fair helping of fun too – with everything from ATV mountain rides and arrow shooting to river swimming and music circles on the cards. It’s definitely one of those ‘choose-your-own-pace’ kind of gatherings, designed for those craving connection, consciousness and a bit of adventure.
