For over a decade, Christoforo has been training professional athletes and Hollywood celebrities in breathwork and cold and heat therapy to optimize their mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. His exploration into these healing modalities began when he started practicing yoga at 18, and it intensified after he moved to New York City, where he was learning the Alexander Technique while pursuing improv and acting. “I would practice, not fully knowing how much of a remote control the breath is to the body,” says Christoforo. “I felt so much from it that I wanted to teach it.” He began by gathering people from his sports groups and his Jiu Jitsu classes, and then he discovered the legendary Wim Hof, the human mecca for breathwork disciples. He eventually became certified in the Wim Hof Method, as well as Oxygen Advantage with Patrick McKeown, and XPT with Laird Hamilton and Gabby Reese.

“Breathwork requires discipline, stillness and patience. There is so much power in it. Not just the thing itself but your relationship to it,” Christoforo explains. He and his wife, Kathy, started Terranuma (terranuma.co), through which they offer experiences in the Northeast. Participants attend workshops and retreats, go on hikes and take cold dips in nature. Kathy, a Reiki master, was a public school teacher in New York City for 15 years and would often bring Christoforo in to do breathwork with her classes, seeing the incredible transformations it brought. The couple also continues to work with elementary schools to provide tools for mental health, mindfulness and stress relief for both teachers and students. This January, they launched Breathe and Be, a six-week online course that creates community and education around breathwork and meditation. This coming March, they will both be at the Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster for a wellness retreat weekend.
