As construction nears a finish on the $18 million Crawford County Wellness Center in Denison, Iowa, officials have pinpointed a target completion date.
Denison City Manager Jessica Garcia told Siouxland Public Media News on Wednesday that there is a lot of support by people for the wellness center. She said the construction work is estimated to be done by the end of March, then a potential ribboncutting and soft opening for charter members could follow in April.
Officials in Crawford County and the city of Denison are working together to build the Crawford County Wellness Center.
It will be located at the corner of North 16th Street and Eighth Avenue North, just east of Denison High School. The center will contain a rarity, with indoor soccer fields, plus a wide variety of cardio and other exercise pieces.
Revenues have come from grants, federal funding, substantial fundraising and more. Garcia said some more fundraising ahead of about $650,000 would fully complete the center financing.
The Denison Iowa City Council in a Tuesday meeting approved payments of nearly $1 million to Jensen Builders for the wellness center work.
