Laura Geller is always our most trusted source of beauty advice for mature women, whether she’s dishing on her top products for women over 60 or saving us from pesky smudges with her mascara tips for watery eyes. The makeup mogul recently sat down with Prevention to share her top beauty tips for sensitive mature skin, and they did not disappoint.

Sensitive skin can feel like a constant struggle, especially as our skin ages. The 67-year-old Laura Geller Beauty founder understands this, and she came prepared with all the tips and tricks to help you look and feel your best without irritating your skin.

Ahead, Geller shares her essential beauty tips for sensitive mature skin, from holy grail products to application best practices.

Gentle products are key

You can never go wrong with using gentle products, but it matters even more if you struggle with sensitivity. Luckily, Geller has plenty of recommendations from her own brand. “For my friends with psoriasis or rosacea, all of my baked foundations have the Seal of Approval from the National Psoriasis Foundation and the Seal of Acceptance from the National Rosacea Society and are safe to use,” she says.

Laura Geller Beauty’s Baked Balance-N-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation is the brand’s top foundation for mature skin. As the name suggests, its weightless formula doubles as a color corrector to even out your complexion without causing unwanted irritation.

Listen to your skin

Even if you’re using products that are formulated for sensitive skin, Geller stresses the importance of paying attention to what works or doesn’t work for you. Everyone’s skin is different, after all. “Listen to your skin,” she says. “If something doesn’t feel right, it may not be the correct product for you.”

Application matters

It isn’t just the products you use that make a difference, though. Geller says how you apply your makeup matters just as much. “When applying makeup, be delicate with your touch,” she says. “Use soft brushes and tap rather than rub and drag.”

If you’re ready to upgrade your makeup brushes, Geller’s own Kabuki brushes are up to the task. The Retractable Airbrush Kabuki Brush is ideal for applying foundation, while the Retractable Angled Kabuki Brush applies blush, bronzer, and contour with controlled precision. Plus, the retractable design makes them great for travel.
