Internatio-Müller Chemical Distribution (IMCD) has announced it will acquire Willows Ingredients to strengthen its food and nutrition offerings in the UK and Ireland. The deal will strengthen IMCD’s position in health, sports, and animal nutrition.

The Dutch speciality chemicals and ingredients company signed the agreement today and will obtain 100% of Willow Ingredients Group Limited’s shares. This includes the Ireland headquarters and 26 of its employees.

Willow Ingredients distributes ingredients for health, sport, and animal nutrition. It reported revenue of €26 million (US$30.59 million) in 2024. The acquisition will expand IMCD’s presence in the segments and expand its portfolio and market access, mainly in Willow Ingredients’ predominant markets, the UK and Ireland.

The companies have not yet shared transaction details of the acquisition.

“This acquisition represents an important step in developing our food and nutrition activities across the region,” says Paul Hanbury, managing director at IMCD, UK and Ireland.

“By combining their [Willow Ingredients] strengths with IMCD’s global reach and formulation capabilities, we can create even greater opportunities for our customers and principals.”

David Scrivens, managing director at Willows Ingredients, adds: “By joining IMCD, we gain access to a global platform that will enable us to support our partners even more effectively. We look forward to contributing our knowledge and working alongside our new colleagues to deliver enhanced solutions for the market.”

Earlier this month, IMCD opened its modernized Food & Nutrition application laboratory in Cologne, Germany. The move aimed to strengthen the company’s technical expertise in food and nutrition, offering manufacturers a practical environment to develop new recipes, market-relevant concepts, and joint innovation projects.
