Prepare your business for the month of March with our roundup of dates to note…

1st: St David’s Day

This event celebrates Saint David: the patron saint of Wales, on the day of his death in 589 AD. To commemorate the occasion, Welsh people often sport the country’s national emblems: a daffodil and leek.

Appeal to Welsh clients with social media content based around the day, and by offering themed nail styles. Click here for our roundup of daffodil designs.

2nd-8th: Waste Week

Launched to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of waste and encourage people to reduce their personal and business waste, this week sees a variety of initiatives take place across various sectors.

In the beauty industry, The Great British Beauty Clean Up from the Sustainable Beauty Coalition is returning for 2026, bringing together retailers, brands and professionals to significantly reduce sector waste – which makes up a third of landfill materials. Want to get involved? Find out more here.

6th: Employee Appreciation Day

Celebrated annually on the first Friday of March, this event was launched in the US in the 1990s and is now marked across the world. It recognises and celebrates the contributions of employees in all businesses.

Research shows that when employees feel appreciated, they are more loyal, motivated and productive. Use this day to boost team morale with acts of appreciation, from handwritten notes to social media spotlights on staff members and fun rewards.

8th: International Women’s Day (IWD)

The first IWD gathering took place in 1911. Today, the event is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and highlights the need to accelerate female equality. The campaign theme for 2026 is ‘Give to Gain’.

Female representation in the beauty industry is reported to be 93%, in the British Beauty Council’s 2024 report, A Beauty Industry That Looks Like You, so show your support for the event across social media and by creating themed designs like these.

15th: Mother’s Day (UK)

Also known as Mothering Sunday, this day is a great chance to show mother figures some well-deserved love: most notably through pampering nail and beauty treatments.

Market how your services and retail items cater to mothers and grandmothers, as well as mums-to-be and new mums. And don’t forget to share seasonal deals and treatment packages to incentivise clients. Click here for Mother’s Day nail designs.

16th-22nd: Neurodiversity Celebration Week

A 2024 survey by booking platform, Vagaro, found that half of beauty pros identify as neurodivergent: when someone’s brain works differently from what is considered ‘neurotypical’. Neurodiversity incorporates conditions like ADHD, autism and dyslexia.

The week challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences, and recognises the talent of neurodiverse individuals globally. Demonstrate how you value neurodiverse clients and encourage conversations to raise awareness. Read Scratch’s piece on how to accommodate neurodiverse needs here.

17th: St. Patrick’s Day

Global celebration of Irish culture, St. Patrick’s Day, involves parades, special food and drink, and Irish music and dancing. It takes place on the day that patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick, died.

To delight clients involved in the festivities, consider marking the day online and in the salon, and offering themed designs containing Irish symbols like the shamrock and colours of the Irish flag. Check out nail inspo here.

18th: Global Recycling Day

This event was created in 2018 to recognise the significant role recycling plays in protecting the planet – and it’s an important cause to clients, with NielsenIQ research showing that 72% of global consumers are willing to pay more for sustainable products.

If you recycle in your business, maybe via Green Salon Collective or SalonCycle, this is the time to make sure clients know it via your marketing. But, ensure you are transparent about your efforts and do not greenwash. We share ways to recycle salon waste here.
