Standing alongside her, Giovanni Malagò, President of the Milano Cortina 2026 Organising Committee, reflected on what he described as the “spirit and humanity” that defined these Games.
“They have been an extraordinary kaleidoscope of sporting achievements and personal journeys, where passions and emotions come together,” Malagò said.
“My thoughts turn to the many young people who embraced these Games. To them, we affirmed that another world is possible through sport. I believe this message has resonated powerfully and will endure.”
As the evening drew towards its conclusion, Coventry delivered the traditional words that formally close every edition of the Games.
“Dear friends, I now declare the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games closed,” she said.
“In accordance with tradition, I call upon the youth of the world to assemble four years from now in the French Alps… See you in 2030.”
