The long-vacant former Kmart building in Edgewater is being transformed into a new hub for fitness and family recreation, with Planet Fitness, Dill Dinkers, and Urban Air expected to join Tractor Supply Co. in the big-box space along Solomons Island Road.
The 117,000-square-foot former Kmart at 3255 Solomons Island Road is part of The Marketplace at South River Colony, and the property’s redevelopment has been in motion since it was acquired in 2024.
What’s Coming To The Former Kmart Space
According to leasing information for the site, Tractor Supply has leased an endcap in the building and is currently open. Leases have been executed with Planet Fitness, Urban Air, and Dill Dinkers. Together, the three create a more athletic, activity-based destination than the building has housed in years.
For South County residents, the redevelopment could turn a long-underused property into an all-in-one stop for workouts, indoor sports, and kid-friendly activities, while bringing steady traffic back to a prominent stretch of Solomons Island Road.
