Huntsville Planning Council will hold a public meeting on March 11 to hear an application for the construction of a Nordic Spa at 55 Stephenson Road 7 West in Port Sydney.
To facilitate the project, a Community Planning Permit By-law Amendment is being proposed to change the precinct on the lands from a Community and Rural Business Employment precinct to a
Community and Rural Business Employment precinct, with an exception to permit a Nordic Spa as the only permitted use on the land.
According to the planning notice, a “Nordic Spa shall mean an open space, recreational area, building or buildings, which are operated on a commercial basis and devoted to thermotherapy with the use of saunas, steam rooms, hot and cold pools, and massage. A Nordic Spa may also include the following accessory uses: staff quarters, place of assembly, restaurant, yoga and relaxation facilities, open space (trails/forest bathing), storage, administrative facilities, and other accessory uses, services, equipment or facilities normally incidental to the principal use,” states the notice. “A Nordic Spa does not include a dwelling unit other than an accessory dwelling for the owner or operator or staff quarters that are accessory to the principal use.”
You can find the proposed siteplan HERE.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on March 11, 2026. You can find the notice HERE.
