President Donald Trump said Saturday that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead and that elements of Iran’s military and security forces are seeking immunity amid ongoing U.S. and Israeli strikes.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead.”

Trump said U.S. intelligence and tracking systems, working closely with Israel, located Khamenei during Operation Epic Fury.

“He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do,” Trump wrote.

Trump also wrote that divisions may be emerging inside Iran’s security apparatus.

“We are hearing that many of their IRGC, Military, and other Security and Police Forces, no longer want to fight, and are looking for Immunity from us,” he wrote.

“As I said last night, ‘Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death!’”

Trump also urged the Iranian people to seize what he described as a historic opportunity.

“This is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country,” he wrote.

“Hopefully, the IRGC and Police will peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots, and work together as a unit to bring back the Country to the Greatness it deserves.”

Trump said bombing operations would continue.

“The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!”

Iranian authorities have not issued a public confirmation of Khamenei’s death. Earlier statements from Iranian officials indicated that senior leaders remained “safe and sound.”

Reuters, Fox News, CNN, and CBS News have cited Israeli and U.S. officials who say Khamenei was killed in the initial strike on Tehran.

The situation remains fluid as fighting continues across the region.

This is a developing story.
