ST. ALBANS TOWN — Local girls were pampered like princesses this past Tuesday as they were treated to a day of fun self-care.

Owner Cassidy Devino opened LA Nail and Beauty Bar up to kids ages 5-10, offering manicures and pedicures, mini facials, hair tinsel, temporary tattoos and more.

Devino took over ownership of the salon this past October, fulfilling a long-time dream of having her own place. She studied cosmetology at the Center for Technology Essex and has 15 years of experience in the beauty industry.

“I was two weeks postpartum when we saw the salon was for sale,” Devino recalled. “My husband told me to just go for it.”

Today, LA Nail Bar offers nail care, pedicures and waxing services for youth and adults. Two aestheticians rent space to provide facials.

On Tuesday, LA Nail Bar was closed to regular appointments so local girls could experience a day of pampering while on school break. Devino’s husband John said there was a line at the front door when the event started at 10 a.m.

While their toe nails dried, cousins Vivian and Ivy, age 6 and 5, devoured bright pink cupcakes. They wore fluffy white robes and bejeweled tiaras and were excited to show off their hail tinsel and blue fingernail polish.

The Princess Pamper Party was a trial run for potential future birthday parties at the salon. As someone with a February birthday, Devino said she knows from experience it can be challenging to find a venue for winter parties and would like LA Nail Bar to eventually be a local option.

“We’ve gotten great feedback so far, and it’s been a lot of fun,” Devino said.
