LUNENBURG — Bird feathers are among nature’s most extraordinary creations — engineered for flight, designed for survival and often dazzling in beauty.
Acclaimed birding author Heather Wolf will take audiences beyond the basics in a virtual Zoom presentation exploring the many fascinating functions of feathers.
The presentation titled “Bird Feathers & Their Fascinating Functions” will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 2, hosted by the Lunenburg Public Library.
Wolf will examine the complexity of bird feathers, revealing that they serve purposes far beyond flight and warmth. Known for pairing beautiful photography with lively discussion, she will share images and insights while allowing ample time for audience questions.
She is the author of “Find More Birds: 111 Surprising Ways to Spot Birds Wherever You Are” and “Birding at the Bridge: In Search of Every Bird on the Brooklyn Waterfront.”
“I love giving these presentations because it’s a way to show people how to experience the nature documentary happening right outside our doors,” Wolf said. “And no exotic trip required.”
Sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library, this event is presented in collaboration with numerous Massachusetts libraries.
