The Lipstick Lesbians are launching their own beauty brand, Leaked Labs, on 6 March –  which will bring laboratory samples to market and tweak according to consumer feedback, before either being launched in a larger capacity or archived.

The TikTok viral educator duo and real-life couple, Alexis Androulakis and Dr Christina Basias Androulakis, claim Leaked Labs is a new kind of beauty platform – “one built to release lab-born innovation directly to the public, without waiting for traditional brand timelines to catch-up”.

Leaked Labs has been built on the belief that innovation already exists, but the industry takes too long to bring it to people, aiming to make beauty’s beta phase visible to the consumer.

Instead of traditional launches, the direct-from-lab platform will operate via “controlled leaks” – limited, early access drops of high-potential formulas released directly from partner laboratories and R&D teams.

Each release, called a ‘Leak’, will be identified by a ‘Leak Number’ and introduced in limited quantities to capture real-world performance before scaling.

The product enters a live evaluation phase, where its real-world performance determines whether it advances into broader production, evolves through further development, or remains a limited lab release that may never return.

For companies working on next-generation beauty solutions, the Cosmetics Business Innovation Awards provide an industry-wide platform to showcase and explain meaningful innovation. Entries open now

This enables formulas to “evolve rather than sit unseen in development cycles”, read a statement from the brand.

“Beauty has always asked consumers to trust the process without ever seeing the work behind it,” said Alexis, co-founder of Leaked Labs.

“We built Leaked Labs to shorten the distance between scientific breakthrough and real-world experience.

“This is about honouring innovation, instead of letting it sit in development limbo.

“When people get access to what the lab already knows works, beauty becomes exciting again.”

Alexis is an experienced beauty product developer, while Christina holds a PhD in Digital Education and Technology.

The duo – known for decoding the global beauty manufacturing ecosystem – has more than 1.2 million followers on TikTok, and more than 553,000 on Instagram.

What is Leaked Labs first beauty product launch and why?

Leaked Labs first product will be Leak 001: Amplify Flexi Powder, which are shape-shifting, water-activated powder pigment discs.

Described as challenging “the definition of powder itself”, the discs are engineered to bend, ripple, activate with water or setting spray, and reform.

The product claims to deliver everything from a sheer wash to sculpted, high-impact payoff across eyes, cheeks and lips.

All Leaked Labs products will be available at leakedlabs.com, with early access offered through community sign-ups and select partners.

Each ‘Leak’ product launch will go through the same process.

All formulas and concepts are curated and developed by Alexis in collaboration with chemists, artists and innovation partners.

This will often involve surfacing materials or technologies that exist in laboratories but have not yet been commercialised.

Products will then be released in limited quantities as controlled ‘Leaks’, with the performance observed through real-life use across diverse routines, climates and application styles.

Then comes either refinement or archiving.

Select formulas may evolve into expanded releases, while others will remain as limited lab editions, “preserving innovation without forcing it into traditional commercialisation models”, read a statement from the brand.

Last year, The Lipstick Lesbians launched their very own educational platform, Let’s Learn About Beauty (LLAB), to help democratise beauty.
