Democratic MP Ina Zhupa has called on the majority not to become a shield for former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

Zhupa, while responding to Balla regarding the Molotov cocktails thrown during the DP protest at Enver Hoxha’s villa, said that the opposition’s revolt will continue.

“Mr. Balla, I thought you would apologize on behalf of the state police for taking the protester with the national flag, hitting him and then throwing the national flag. It is the first time that a police officer has desecrated the symbol of the state.

Mr. Balla, know that protest is a civil right. It is the citizens who demand that the government be returned to them and that you not become a political shield as you have become to maintain the immunity of the Deputy Prime Minister.

“If you want to quote the president of the EU Foreign Affairs Commission, then quote him correctly when he says that the critical test for Albania is Balluk’s immunity. Implement it to pave the way for Albania to the EU. All the compassion you have for the dictator’s villa, just see the footage of the Theater with people inside, how you demolished it,” said Zhupa.

Ina Zhupa: I expected you to apologize for the State Police attacking the protester simply because he was waving the national flag, and you even took it and threw it away, desecrating the national symbol, the red and black flag.

Only a narcotics officer could have behaved like that, after he had attacked the opposition leader and the protesters with all his might, while the police were marching on the boulevard of Tirana.

As for protest, it is a democratic right. But you are concerned about what the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, McAllister, says, that the critical test for Albania is the immunity of Belinda Balluku. This is essential for the integration process.

While we will protest because you have turned the Assembly into a shield against justice, you have the most corrupt government, and Albanians must take the fate of their country into their own hands.
