A Bridgnorth personal trainer, who set up a postnatal fitness group for mums and their babies, is looking to expand after an “explosion” in demand.
Lauren Baines, who has a two-year-old son, founded Strong Mommas Club a year ago.
The six-week course, which runs in Wolverhampton, is designed to support women safely back into exercise after they have had a baby.
The 33-year-old said “it is great to see mum’s putting themselves first, even if it is just for an hour a week.”
The mum and baby fitness course was launched by the level four personal trainer who has a son called Spencer.
It is designed to “boost your energy, rebuild your strength, and regain confidence in a supportive, safe, and nurturing environment.”
It focuses on things including core recovery and pelvic floor health.
Speaking to BBC Radio WM, she said: “Of course we need all the focus on baby but we also need a little bit of care and attention to mum.
“Your body has just gone through one of the biggest things it is ever going to do with pregnancy and childbirth.”
After launching in February 2025, the classes now run in Bridgnorth, Tettenhall and Shropshire.
“When I started a year ago, there were some companies that existed but in this past year, it has exploded.
The NHS says if you had a straightforward birth, you can start gentle exercise as soon as you feel up to it, but advises leaving high-impact exercise like running until after your six-week postnatal check.
“It is getting more and more popular.”
“We all just look after each other it’s really nice.”
Baines says her goal is to deliver the programme to as many people as possible.
“There are only so many hours in a week that I can do this on my own, so I am looking for like minded people who are passionate about women’s health who would like to become a part of Strong Mommas Club.
“We are launching a virtual option which will be available from April or May time for anyone who is not able to come in person.”
