KING CITY — King City residents Cesar and Lily Silva have converted a historic downtown building into a new business they are calling The Beauty Lounge at 424 Broadway.
Long known as a furniture store, the couple spent months modernizing and improving the two-story building into a space providing the services of 10 beauty professionals. They specialize in hair services, hair extensions, skincare, lash services, overall body waxing, makeup, scalp care, men’s haircuts, children’s haircuts and massages.
The grand opening was held Jan. 31 with a ribbon cutting attended by around 150 guests eager to see the transformation of the building and meet the service providers.
The Silvas aim to provide a place where luxury meets self-care in a space built on love, family and genuine connection.
Their daughter, Kayla Silva, is the salon manager. She is joined by Jorge Politron, Kelsey Padilla, Gina Russo, Kayla Vigil, Sarahi Pineda, Julia Nuno, Yuli Narez, Graciela Santiago and Susie Rodriguez.
The business is open Monday through Saturdays. Appointments can be made in person or by the beauty provider’s booking site. In addition, each provider can be contacted on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
The building at 424 Broadway was originally built in 1929 by businessman W. A. Foor as reported in the Aug. 2, 1929, edition of The Rustler newspaper. At the time there was a wooden building on that location, which was moved to a lot on Lynn Street directly behind the present location. Foor’s Furniture Store was reported to be opened in December 1929.
For many years, the building has been a furniture store, including Better Homes Furniture Co., Wasson Furniture Co. and most recently, Dori’s Furniture.
