Like many other women my age, Pilates has become one of my favourite workouts over the last few years. Grabbing my thick yoga mat and heading to the studio twice a week has kept me strong, flexible, and happy.

While I do my strength training and cycling workouts at home, I rarely do a Pilates workout at home. However, with an even busier schedule than usual this month, I haven’t had much choice but to do just 10 minutes of Pilates at home every day.

I also used the Peloton app to mix it up even more. There are loads of 10-minute classes on there, making it one of the best Pilates apps. Other apps and YouTube channels are available, offering similar classes and variety.

Peloton for the cycling or running workouts, but the apps (available on any device) have loads to offer, including hundreds of Pilates workouts you can do at home – with or without equipment. All are led by the same expert instructors you’d find on the bike.

On this yoga and Pilates workout app, you’ll find sessions ranging from 10 minutes to half an hour across a great range of Pilates practices – including wall Pilates. You can also build your own workout to focus on your specific needs.

Pilates Anytime offers mat and Reformer Pilates sessions, which can be done at home or in the studio. All the videos are quick, clear, and suitable for all levels, so you can do a class in 10 minutes or less.

A resistance band wrapped around the legs, just above the knee, has the same effect as a set of dumbbells. It adds resistance and makes the exercise harder.

You don’t need a lot to do a Pilates workout at home, but a thicker yoga mat can alleviate some of the pressure on your lower back, hips, elbows, and other joints when working from the floor.
