FISHTOWN (WPVI) — Rick and Phil Migliarese started Balance Studios in 2002, after becoming world champion practioners of Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over 30 years.
The brothers are born and bred Philadelphians from four generations of boxers, so fitness is in their blood. Now with three other entrepreneurs, the brothers are getting into the performance beverage business with Tatsu Tea. The partners all met through the sport, but say the beverage is for anyone who wants to perform at the highest level of whatever it is they do.
They say Tatsu Tea is one of the first ready-to-drink beverages that’s fueled by matcha, a form of green tea. The unique formula adds other healthy elements to the mix — electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals — and gives overall benefits of hydration, immunity, and performance. For now the drink is available in gyms like City Fitness, plus independent retailers and restaurants, but a grocery store rollout is also in the works.
