Dayton Schumacher says he never enjoyed running and opted for tennis growing up. It was in 2022 that everything changed. Schumacher, post-grad, was searching for a purpose. That’s when running became an outlet and mental release for the University of Nebraska – Omaha alum. The former Maverick moved to Phoenix, Arizona, shortly thereafter, where he now works remotely for the University of Nebraska Medical Center.Schumacher founded “Your Pace, Your Peace” in 2025, after realizing the impact running had on his mental health. He craved for others to find the same energy and joy he found lacing up his tennis shoes.”Your Pace, Your Peace” is a wellness-inspired clothing brand for any athlete. With the slogan, “run as you are,” a spinoff of the Nirvana song, “Come as You Are.” Each quarter, Schumacher’s business donates 10% of proceeds to mental health organizations in the Phoenix area. Schumacher said, “At the beginning, I didn’t really think that I’d ever go through with making this a reality… Creating the brand. I kind of just wanted to keep going because I knew that if I didn’t, then I would have always regretted it,” Schumacher said, adding he “wanted to use the opportunity to help other people because it wasn’t really ever about, you know, making any money.” Your Pace, Your Peace partners with local races in the desert, where Schumacher shares his journey and the brand’s mission with fellow runners. He’s also involved in a Strava run group, where he’s found support. Schumacher aspires to one day have his own 5K or race. He says both Phoenix and Omaha have “soft spots” in his heart, and he would love to bring the energy back to the Omaha-metro.
