“Fresh Air/Fresh Paint,” a Plein Air art exhibit, is being held at Rail Walk Studios and Gallery, located at 409 N. Lee St., Salisbury.
The studio is open only on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the public to visit the exhibit, which will be on display until April 27.
An opening reception was held March 6, providing an opportunity to visit with the artists and enjoy refreshments while talking with them and viewing the exhibit.
Sharon Forthofer, one of the exhibiting Plein Air artists, said she has studio space at the gallery and could have a gallery showing and decided to invite the group to bring three paintings each for the show.
Forthofer said the works on display are new works by the group, and while mostly are oil paintings, there are some watercolor and pastel paintings as well. The works are available for purchase.
As noted on posters placed at the exhibit, “Plein Air painting is the practice of painting outdoors, capturing the beauty of nature directly from life.”
Members of the group visit different areas, some of which have included local parks, churches and Happy’s Farm.
Artists participating in the “Fresh Air/Fresh Paint Plein Air exhibit include Mary Jo Agner, Susan Bartlett, Joyce Cavanaugh-Wood, Patricia Fein, Sharon Forthofer, Harold Frontz, Leslie Frontz, Sarah White Harvey, Dr. Mary-Louise Hooper, Ceila Jarrett, Karen Koriko, Rebecca Little, Cherrathee Hager and Phyllis Steimel.
