Move Nutrition Editor Elyse Lovett and WholeFoods Magazine Publisher Heather Wainer sit down with Aker BioMarine CEO Matts Johansen about new research exploring krill oil’s role in muscle health during weight loss.

Tune in for details of a study that designed to mimic the calorie restriction commonly seen with GLP-1 weight-loss therapies. As Johansen explains, participants on an 800-calorie diet lost similar total weight regardless of supplementation, but muscle loss differed dramatically: About 24% of weight lost was muscle in the placebo group versus roughly 2% in the krill oil group.

Johansen also discusses:

Krill oil’s broader relevance for active nutrition, including its potential anti-inflammatory effectsResearch suggesting higher omega-3 status may help athletes recover faster and return to intense training more quickly. Sustainability efforts in Antarctic krill harvesting and the growing role of science-driven supplements as consumers increasingly research health solutions themselves.  Aker-Move.jpg Learn more about Nutrition That Powers Movement, Focus, and Lifelong Health
