Nick Hexum, singer and frontman for ska rock band 311, has many interests and has been busy pursuing them all. In 2025 alone, he put out 3 EPs and a full album of mostly original music that employs his love of stringband music, Americana, and learned to play the pedal steel, mandolin, and banjo. In our recent conversation, he spoke to us about the nostalgic part of this kind of music for him, how 311 is still his first love and life’s work, and how he came to cover the Chappell Roan song “California”. Nick and the bluegrass/punk band Water Tower are currently on the Nothing But The Truth Tour with a stop in Louisville on April 5, 2026 at Zanzabar.
