SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A Women VetsConnect Wellness Retreat is taking place on April 11.
Community Action for Veterans Executive Director Jill Baker and Jade Ronk with Anchor Point Wellness Group joined Dakota News Now to tell us more about the upcoming retreat.
“Through a lot of discussion about veterans in our community and across our state, we really thought that it was important ot honor our female veterans, but also the people that stand behind them and stand beside them. So we really want to incorporate something this year that includes partners of our military members,” said Ronk.
“One of the biggest reasons why we host, this is our fifth one by the way. In the past, it was called the Stand Up for Women Veterans Retreat. Now it’s called Women VetsConnect. But, really, that peer support and the resources, bringing those resources to our guests right there, on site, while we’re hosting workshops to support the needs of veterans, and now the partners of the military veterans,” said Baker.
“One of the topics I’ll be covering is just wellness across our lifetime. Because, as women, sometimes we don’t talk about, in the different stages of our lives, what wellness looks like. Whether that be the psychological aspects or the mental and emotional aspects. So, I’m really going to focus on some of those things, as well as one of the things I’ve noticed while working with veterans, that our nervous systems need a little more support, especially with all of the stress and chaos that’s going on in the world,” said Ronk.
The event will go from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm on April 11, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
The event is free for guests to attend.
