Both substances are processed by the same enzyme in the liver (CYP3A4). Vitamin D may speed up this enzyme, causing atorvastatin to be cleared from the body slightly faster. At the same time, statins may naturally boost Vitamin D levels by affecting how the body handles fat-soluble vitamins.

You can generally take these together safely. You do not need to change your dose, but you should continue to have your cholesterol levels monitored by your doctor as part of your routine check-ups to ensure your statin is working effectively.
