The Evanston Health and Human Services Department invites community members to join this year’s We’re Out Walking (WOW) program, a family-friendly wellness initiative for all ages and fitness levels. The 16-week program is open to anyone who lives, works or plays in Evanston.

About the WOW Program

Launched in 2007 as a 12-week program for women, WOW has now expanded into a 16-week initiative open to the community. Participants can enjoy fitness classes, wellness events and community walks hosted by local organizations. There is a wellness platform, Wellable, where participants can opt in to tracking their steps, join challenges, and receive giveaway prizes (though this is optional and is not required to participate in WOW).

Event schedules and class details will be available at cityofevanston.org/wow and on the WOW Facebook page

Registration and fees

Registration is required and can be completed online or in person at the WOW Kickoff event (details below). All participants will receive a WOW t-shirt.

Ages 16-59: $10

Financial assistance is available for those in need. Contact Community Health Specialist Kayla Smith at ksmith@cityofevanston.org

Business and community Involvement

Local businesses and community organizations are invited to participate in the WOW kickoff event and 16-week program calendar. The initiative is seeking vendors and instructors offering wellness activities such as fitness classes, nutrition workshops, cooking demonstrations and meditation sessions to share their offerings with WOW participants. Event and class information can be submitted online to be included in the program.
