Coming up on Friday, April 3, Crown Hospice will be with us for the FREE FRIDAY BINGO. They sponsor the games each month on the first Friday. Sherri, from Crown, brings the gifts and calls the games. We appreciate them being faithful to support our Bingo for the patrons. Be sure to thank them. Free Bingo is each Friday at 12:00 Noon.
Sunday, April 5, will be Easter, or Resurrection Sunday! I remember years ago little girls and moms would be all decked out in a new dress, many of which were homemade. But that was one Sunday that the ladies of all ages really dressed up. Some wore hats. Nowadays you don’t see it quite as much. There would be an egg hunt and family dinner to follow at home. I never understood where the Easter Bunny came from, or the Easter Eggs. Bunnies don’t have anything to do with the Resurrection, and bunnies do not lay eggs. But the kids enjoy the hunts! I like chocolate bunnies and I like eggs! Ha!
The Nutrition Center will be OPEN on GOOD FRIDAY, April 3, but CLOSED on Monday, April 6 for the staff and volunteers to have an extended holiday with family.
Tuesday, April 6, will be Election Day. This is usually called the little election, where school board members are chosen, municipal offices are elected, county issues, etc. The polls will open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. It is a long day to be a worker on the days where not many voters come out to vote. Get out to vote, then come dine with us at the Center. Those two things will be worth getting out for!
Friday, April 10, will be the Vet-to-Vet Cafe with Legacy Hospice. Karen will be with us at 10:30 a.m. to visit with Veterans. She will also have a door prize drawing. Thank you to Karen for continuing to offer this time for our Veterans. March 29 marked the anniversary of the withdrawal of the last US troops from Vietnam, and the release of prisoners. The year was 1973. It was the end of a long war, with much loss.
Saturday, April 11, 5:00-8:00 p.m. will be FAMILY FEUD!! Get your teams together, give yourselves a name, and be ready to compete! Teams can not be more than six players, but can certainly be less. Help us spread the word so we can pack the house! We will have other games like minute-to-win-it, to gain some extra points for your team. It is always a time of fun and much laughter! We will have concession foods and drinks available as always. In addition to the regular concession foods, we will also have hors d’oeuvre trays available, with a mixture of many appetizers. So come hungry!!
The April Board Meeting will be on Tuesday, April 21, at 1:00 p.m. If you would like to attend to learn more about the Nutrition Center, we invite you to attend. We also would like to have some input on what others’ thoughts are for activities. We find that people do like to have somewhere to go to have fun, and the Center can sure use the extra revenue. Mark your calendar for April 21 for the next meeting!
The Blessing Box is still available for anyone who has a need. It is accessible 24/7. We invite you to come and get what you need from the box. If you would like to donate to the box, we ask that the containers of food be new and unopened, within date range. We are ok with canned goods and liquids now that the weather is not freezing. Thank you to those who donate.
The menu for upcoming days is as follows. The entree’ will only be changed if necessary, due to food availability.
