The millennials amongst us will likely remember the all-out frenzy that the early aughts was as it related to hair straighteners. My early middle school year memories are dappled with extremely early mornings so I could straighten my naturally wavy hair before school. There were even hair straighteners that were meant to take your hair from wet to dry 20 years ago, but I shudder at the thought of the damage to my baby fine strands. It would take a lot for me to reconsider the concept. SharkNinja, however, recently released a wet-to-dry-straightener + rapid blow dryer, which I think has redefined the genre for me.

SilkiPro™ Straight Wet to Dry Straightener + Rapid Blow Dryer

I’ll admit, the first time I used the single tool, multi-use styler I was nervous. I have spent a great deal of time working on not just my hair growth but length retention, so I felt like I was putting that on the line. It turns out that those fears were folly. The way this works is genius. I first used the closed tongs to rough dry my hair to damp, almost dry. Then, I opened the tongs and attached the comb (I use the gentle comb), and then clamped my hair sections between the ceramic plates. All at the same time, the aforementioned plates measures the heat and auto-adjusts so there’s no heat damage, all while the air flow continues to get things dry.

Of note, with my fine hair and frizzies, when I do blow out my hair I find that it’s hard to get the curly friends near my forehead to always behave. With this, the degree to which my hair was super smooth was notable. Once dry, I went over it again with the dry settings, and that really set in the sleek factor, and I felt like my recently glossed hair was reflecting light.

If you’re someone who travels a lot and needs to streamline devices I’d say this is an essential, especially if you wear your hair straight. As a wavy girl, I can say that this tool has made it so much easier to get that pin straight and extra polished look without a ton of effort. And if you wear your hair straight daily, well then it’s a no brainer.
