After decades in the same home, making a move isn’t always easy.
At Twin Rivers Senior Living in Richardson, some residents spend years considering the transition. But, once they move, the response is often the same.
“When I see new residents a few weeks after they’ve moved in, the one thing they always tell me is, ‘I should have done this years ago,’” general manager Alex Anda said.
That realization is often rooted in something simple: the freedom that comes with maintenance-free living.
“Everything … is taken care of,” Anda said. “Twin Rivers really is known for catering to our residents. We go above and beyond what is seen in most senior living communities.”
More time for what matters
Without the need to manage home upkeep, schedule repairs or coordinate transportation, residents gain back time, and many choose to spend it together.
Twin Rivers offers scheduled transportation for doctor’s appointments, shopping trips and group outings, removing another layer of day-to-day responsibility.
Some residents attend fitness classes, such as yoga, stretch and flex, strength and cardio, or water aerobics. Others take advantage of the adjacent walking park, which connects directly to the community and has quickly become a favorite gathering place.
“The residents have been going out there a lot to walk their dogs, or when their family comes to visit,” Anda said. “On the weekends, groups of almost 30 people have a big lunch together.”

Inside the community, that same sense of connection carries throughout the day. Residents gather for card games, dominoes and puzzles, or attend happy hours, potlucks and birthday celebrations, where each month’s birthdays are honored with cake, ice cream and personalized gift bags.
Those shared moments often turn into lasting friendships.
“We have residents who now go shopping together and go see shows together,” Anda said. “Some go to church together. … We have people who travel together on cruise ships and take road trips.”
Anda said some residents even travel to Oklahoma to go to the casinos together.
“They’ve all become friends here at Twin Rivers,” Anda said.
Even everyday spaces play a role. Residents frequently use the community’s in-house mail system to exchange holiday cards, invitations and notes: small gestures that help strengthen those connections.
Renovations that support the lifestyle
As residents embrace this way of living, Twin Rivers has continued updating its spaces to better support it.
The dining area has been transformed into a large, open grand room designed for gatherings and events. It replaces a more traditional layout with a flexible, welcoming space.
“It’s all brand new; it’s beautiful and it gives us a lot more room for our parties,” Anda said.
The updated space is already being used for larger events, from themed celebrations to community-wide gatherings.

The community has also combined multiple rooms into one expanded wellness center, creating a centralized space for both fitness equipment and group classes. Additional updates, including a renovated salon, an expanded sitting area and a refreshed lobby, open up the space and bring in a more updated, yet still traditional, design.
A simpler way to live
At its core, maintenance-free living at Twin Rivers isn’t just about convenience; it’s about what that convenience makes possible.
With fewer daily responsibilities and more opportunities to connect, residents are able to focus on experiences, relationships and overall well-being.
Anda encourages prospective residents to come to open houses and events that the community hosts to get a taste of the lifestyle. The next open house is on May 5. It will be a Cinco de Mayo celebration, with a mariachi band, Mexican food and more.
