BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A new adaptive fitness program is launching this month in Baton Rouge, aiming to create safe and empowering workout opportunities for individuals with special needs and disabilities.
Train Unique, founded by Damon Vincent, is introducing the initiative inside Forged Sports Performance on Airline Highway. The program is designed to serve individuals with both intellectual and physical disabilities, offering personalized training in a supportive environment.

Vincent says the idea grew out of a clear need in the community. “There just weren’t many options where individuals with special needs could truly feel included in fitness,” he said. “We wanted to build something that helps them live healthier lives while also growing their confidence.”
The program is tailored to meet each athlete where they are. Coaches are trained specifically to work with adaptive and intellectual athletes, and workouts are fully customizable. General Manager Linden Munsell says that flexibility is key to the program’s success. “Everything we do is individualized,” Munsell explained. “Our goal is to help each person improve not just physically, but in their independence and everyday life.”
Train Unique is already making an impact by filling a major gap in accessible fitness options across the Baton Rouge area. Beyond exercise, the program focuses on building community and creating a space where participants feel supported and encouraged.

Families and caregivers looking for inclusive fitness opportunities are encouraged to get involved. “We want people to know this is a place for them,” Vincent said. “It’s about more than working out. It’s about creating opportunities and changing lives.”
