The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre here organised a ‘Sundays on Cycle’ event in collaboration with the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).

Organisers said the event was aimed at promoting fitness and raising awareness about healthy lifestyle.

The event, organised under directions from the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, saw enthusiastic participation from around 40 cyclists. The activity was conducted at the scenic Rakh Bagh Park, where participants rode together to spread the message of health and well-being.

Dr Inder Pawar, dean, ESIC Model Hospital and Medical College, was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Aparajitha S D’Souza, medical superintendent, was the special guest.

Staff members from the ESIC Hospital and SAI Training Centre participated in the event, adding to its spirit of collective engagement.

The initiative was organised with the objective of combating obesity, creating awareness about fitness and encouraging people to adopt an active lifestyle. The event carried forward the nationwide theme, “Fitness ki dose, aadha ghanta roz,” emphasising the importance of dedicating at least 30 minutes to physical activity every day.

Following the cycling session, participants took part in a yoga and zumba session on the training centre premises, reinforcing the message of holistic fitness.

At the end of the event, refreshments were served to all the participants.
