DeKALB — Student Wellness, part of NIU’s Counseling and Consultation Services, will host its annual Spring Into Wellness week from Monday to Friday.
The week will feature a series of programs designed to support student well-being and promote healthy habits during the spring semester.
Activities such as Snack and Chat, Crafting Connections and the Healthy Minds Extravaganza will offer students opportunities to engage with wellness resources and build community.
On Wednesday, guest speaker Matt Kovatchis will visit campus to present his talk, “Stop Beating Yourself Up. It’s Stressing You Out.” The program aims to help students break free from perfectionism, burnout and self-criticism.
Kovatchis, a speaker, coach and entrepreneur, draws from his own experiences of outward success and internal struggles to advocate for self-compassion and mindfulness as tools for improving mental health and achieving sustainable success.
During his presentation, Kovatchis will share practical strategies to help students build resilience, reduce stress and develop healthier relationships with themselves. His program is designed to empower participants to move beyond unrealistic expectations and embrace self-compassion.
In addition to his speaking work, Kovatchis is the founder and host of the podcast “The Men in the Arena With Matt Kovatchis & MD,” and the author of “Enjoying Your Own Company: A 75-day Guided Self-Love Journal.” For more information regarding Spring Into Wellness week, participants can visit HuskieHub.
