An employee of Planet Fitness was rushed to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed multiple times by a former member of the gym.

What Happened at the Planet Fitness?

Fox News reports that Devin Massey, who had been banned from the gym, was arrested on April 2 shortly after the alleged attack.

The incident occurred at the Planet Fitness in the Wyncote section of Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania.

NBC 10 later reported that on the afternoon of April 1, Massey first went to the Planet Fitness location. He asked two employees for the manager’s contact information. When they both told him they didn’t know, he tapped one of the employees on the chest.

“Meet me outside,” Massey told them, according to the criminal complaint.

After speaking with the former member, the employee walked away. Massey left, saying, “I’ll see you.” The employee then contacted the manager and was sent home for the day.

The next day, April 2, Massey returned to the gym to complain about an outstanding balance on his account. The employee recognized Massey and reported it to the manager. Police said that Massey then asked the employee if he “snitched.”

The manager told Massey he couldn’t help him and that he shouldn’t be at the gym. When Massey tried to go behind the counter, the employee intervened, and they fought before Massey left.

After the manager reported the incident to 911, Massey returned shortly thereafter. He walked in and stabbed the employee. Massey then left the gym but came back a few seconds later to pick up his hat, shouting at the employee, “See what you made me do? That’s what you f*****g get,”

Members Are Shocked About the Incident

Massey was found just a short distance from the scene. Police say he is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, terroristic threats, criminal mischief, harassment, and disorderly conduct.

Bail for Massey was reportedly denied. He is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility until further court proceedings.

One member said that “all the employees are nice” and “uplifting.” He added that it is “a little shocking for something to happen right here.”

Another member stated, “I can’t believe this. I feel like I’m in a dream right now.”
